Protocol For Lessons

As you can see through checking out the resume page of this site I have studied with many different private instructors over my professional career. I'm still taking lessons and plan to do so for the rest of my life. Music is a learning process which is never mastered just refined.

I'm currently available for private study. I prefer to teach on the weekends at my studio in Allston MA but can travel if necessary. Depending on the amount of travel time, I will have to charge more for those lessons I need to commute to. I do have some weekday / weeknight slots available as well. I teach beginners to advanced players. I have over 50 bass focused books which I use in conjunction with my lesson plans. I also have a growing library of live performances and instructional videos which I encourage my students to watch. Depending on the students technical strength, harmonic knowledge, interest in music, I tailor make each lesson plan to the particular student and situation.

I feel the key to success in any aspect of life is finding a way to have fun while still focusing on what needs to be done to get to the next level of proficiency. I don't ask much from my students except that they practice a minimum of 30 minutes a day.  I also SUGGEST that my students obtain a few items:

bass, bass strap, patch chord, practice amp, metronome, guitar tuner, recording device.

Some of these items aren't essential but help in streamlining the learning process and will have you playing your favorite tunes, or styles with your friend,s or professionally, as fast as possible.
